MEDICAL TRAINING

Being one of the largest counties in Virginia with little to no medical facilities available, leaves us in a vary hard place. Our rescue squad is pulled so thin and in so many different directions; its leaving many people stranded and waiting for help. Trying to help remedy this problem starts with education. One of our top priorities as minutemen is to help educate people on the actions and procedures of the medical and health field. General education and training can range from simple boo-boo fixes to internal/health diagnosis. If we could help the population of Buckingham understand the small things, then we could help lessen the load on rescue services. But, for our dedicated Level II’s and I’s our training will be more extensive. With a possible 30-45 minute medical/emergency response from one end of the county to the other; we have to remain ready at all times to provide medical aid. Whether it be a bad vehicle accident, an assault victim, or even an injury from natural cause; we are to be calm and collected, while willing to step forward to do what is needed to save a life. There will be multiple events planned throughout the year for all level members which will have different subjects and teachers.
